Keeping true to Studio 54's original NYC brand, I went as a disco / go-go dancer girl. Check out my hot disco guy! People were asking us to take pictures with us all night - we should have started charging!

Don't be a Halloweenie
Studio 54 always has the best Halloween parties, and this year was no different. Holly Madison hosted her 3rd Annual Hollyween with a special performance by PEEPSHOW and "Holly's World" castmate Josh Strickland. Holly was a super cute Rapunzel, and Josh was a sexy vampire.

Bachelor Pad 2's "Power Couple" at Studio 54
Unlike many of my co-workers and sorority sisters, I have never really been into any of the Bachelor series or the spinoff, Bachelor Pad. There is something about finding love through a game on national television that just doesn't make sense to me; however, I can see how the concept can be strangely addicting for others. Maybe this is similar to my unhealthy infatuation with the Real Housewives series...
Anyway, Bachelor Pad 2's Vienna Girardi and Kasey Kahl created quite the buzz when they hosted at Studio 54 at MGM Grand last Saturday. It blew me away with how obsessed people are with the Bachelor series - almost as if they are on the show themselves and know Vienna and Kasey personally. After I distributed a media alert for the event, I received numerous reply messages from media and co-workers who just wanted to tell me what they thought of these love birds, how they felt about what they did on last week's show and what they're predicting for next week's show. I have never had that sort of a response with any of the other media alerts I have distributed. Hilarious!
Vienna and Kasey were very cordial and easy to work with. They dished to People magazine about how they want to spend the rest of their lives together and that they made "friends for life" on the show. And for those of you engulfed in the Bachelor Pad 2 drama, they want to let viewers at home know that they have no hard feelings toward Jake Pavelka and only wish him the best in his future endeavors.
Below are some snaps from the event. Shout out to TJ for the action shots of me working on the red carpet!

This one's for you, Meghan Baker
I need to give Meghan all the love I can since she won't be around for what she called "future fun adventures."
As if you already didn't know, I'm going to miss you like whoa! And your Zac Efron poster...

Here are some behind the scenes photos from her Shape photo shoot at the Mandalay Bay Theatre:
I started working on this story idea my very first week of work at my firm in August 2010. Lesson learned that success takes time and persistence, because it took almost one year for us to finally get Buyi's amazing transformation story nationally published. Her story was also picked up in the Las Vegas Review-Journal here.
Buyi deserves all the recognition. She not only overcame a challenge that she struggled with for most of her life, but Buyi is one of the most genuine, positive and kind-hearted people I have ever met. And she's so, so talented! If you ever have the opportunity to catch Buyi singing "The Circle of Life" in the opening number of The Lion King, you will be brought to tears. She's that phenomenal! Congratulations, Buyi, on all of your success!

10 Months
I've been meaning to start this blog for the last 10 months, so forgive me as I have a lot to fill you in on.
This blog is a continuation of my last blog, Livin' in L.A., about my experiences working as an entertainment news intern in Los Angeles. Now I'll be writing about my experiences in Las Vegas working as a PR professional with entertainment and hospitality clients. Between my internship in Los Angeles and my move for my job in Las Vegas, a lot has happened.
One year ago, I graduated from the University of Texas. It has been very bittersweet. I'm proud of my accomplishments in finishing school and getting a job soon after graduation, but I can't help but miss my best friends I made at UT, my family that was only a short drive away and the AH-mazing city of Austin, Texas. I moved around a lot growing up, so I pride myself in being good at change. However, this change was a little more difficult than I had anticipated. I had grown more comfortable in Austin than I knew. But now I'm in VEGAS, baby! And I'm looking forward to all that Sin City has to offer.
So how I ended up in Vegas...
I graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism and was feeling a little wary of going the traditional route of finding an entry-level broadcast job in market 178 in Middle-Of-No-Where, USA. My good friend and sorority sister, Meghan, informed me of an opening at her PR firm in Las Vegas. She told me about the entertainment clients that she worked on and said that the job involved a lot of writing, interacting with media and red carpet events. Sounded PERFECT for me! So I applied, and well, here I am!
This city is nuts. It's really unlike any other place on Earth. It's called "Sin City," after all. You must have a lot of will power to not get caught up in this town. Luckily, I've found it very easy to have lots of control. My job keeps me busy enough so that I don't have any distractions. And while I never missed a Thursday night in downtown Austin during my college days, I'm secretly an old person at heart. I genuinely love going to bed early and getting up early. I've also been made fun of for drinking coffee, reading the newspaper and writing in cursive... apparently, only 50-year-olds do that nowadays. But now I'm getting off track...
I'm not saying that I never go out and experience the city at all. I've done a lot of cool things and seen a little bit of everything. I've seen tons of shows, experienced the best that Vegas nightlife has to offer and hiked the trails at Red Rock Canyon, among other fun things. Continue to follow my blog and you'll experience it all with me!
xx, Maggie
